Did you pack enough outfits?

Remember your extra contacts? Sunglasses?

There are hundreds (maybe thousands) of articles dedicated to packing. But today we rely heavily on our phones/tablets so how do you go about your digital packing? Here are a few of our favorite apps and tips for keeping your digital travel life in order.

Apps

PackPoint will help organize what you need to pack based on your destination’s weather, length of the trip, and planned activities. Building a customized packing list has never been easier.
Headout is currently available in a handful of cities (check your destination). The app helps you find last-minute shows, concerts, and events in the area.
Free Wi-Fi Finder is available in more than 50 countries. Staying connected may not be as important to you, but finding your way to your next adventure takes wifi too!
Trail Wallet keeps track of all your spending on the trip.

RV Travel Apps

RV Life/RV Trip Wizard is a paid app, that will help you plan your trip with mapping and low clearance avoidance.

Harvest Host is a great way to plan one-night rest stops while traveling by RV. The paid membership offers free overnights (often boondocking) at wineries, golf courses, and more.

Map Apps

This is a simple preference. Here are some we use while traveling.

  • Waze
  • Google Maps

Getting your Phone/Tablet Ready for Travel

  • Check your phone storage to ensure room for photos.
  • Download Google Maps for your destination for offline use.
  • Download Google Translate (if you don’t speak the language).
  • Download some movies/books for the plane ride.
  • Check with your phone provider to verify usage in your destination.

Don’t forget your chargers!

We love this USB hub for charging our devices.

Carrying a portable charger has saved me. We have little downtime and are always on the go. Stopping to recharge is rarely an option.
