Pinellas County Florida is no different. There are a variety of influences on coffee shops from New York, to Greek to Italian. One thing is certain, you will find at least one favorite, and here are a few of ours.
Tukro Coffee – Dunedin, FL
Tukro takes the prize for uniqueness. You walk up into a remodeled home just off the Main Street in Dunedin. The porch is a perfect place to sip your coffee and meet up with friends which adds to the atmosphere of the shop.
We tried the Cardamon Rose Latté and the Liquid Tiramisu. I would be hard-pressed to name a favorite. Each is unique in its own way, but we will be back again and again for both.
Canes Café – Palm Harbor, FL
Swinging in this coffee shop you will want to be sure to bring your appetite. Its unique mix of breakfast/brunch sandwiches will get you ready for a day of adventures.
We grabbed the pesto and Kategory 5 by Kira paninis. Both are amazing. The Kat 5 is a ham, bacon, egg, and cheese with their “special sauce.”
The coffees were more traditional with their Honey Cinnamon Latté nicknamed the Al Capone.
Art Smart Gallery & Coffee – Dunedin, FL
Roasting their coffee in-house allows them to offer some of the freshest coffee in the area. We opted for the Frapicasso. A play on words to highlight their signature roast, the Picasso. The drink blends 2 shots of espresso with frozen coffee cubes to make an espresso milkshake. Small tables were placed throughout the gallery and outside to give a nice atmosphere to relax. The prices were absolutely the best as well with the Frapicasso costing just $3 each.
Hellas Bakery – Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks
I am not sure you can plan a Tampa Bay trip without roaming into Tarpon Springs for some of the best Greek food and drinks you will find in this hemisphere. Hellas Bakery is a must-stop. Whether you dine for lunch, dinner, or just grab a snack and frappé from the bakery your trip is not complete without giving them a try.
The 2D Cafe – St. Petersburg, FL
Bringing two-dimensional straight out of a 1980s music video and into your coffee shop, The 2D Cafe offers an adorable setting, great signature coffees, and cruffins. What is a cruffin? It is their mix of a muffin and a croissant and it is delicious!
The artwork is the work of local artist, Chad Mize.
Mazzaro’s Italian Market – St. Petersburg, FL
Do you know what they say about saving the best for last? Well, the best is an understatement here. Mazzaro’s Italian Market’s coffee will have you eyeing the espresso machine. Wondering how much it costs, if it will fit in your kitchen and if you can work it. You will wake up thinking about this coffee. It will become the coffee by which all others will be judged. We love the “Mazzaro’s Classics.” Carmelo is a caramel chocolate espresso. Vanilla Spice has vanilla and cinnamon, but if you are feeling particularly decadent give the Raspberry Twist a try. Its combination of white chocolate, caramel, and raspberry is a dessert on its own, but the nearby pastry counter is always a good stop too.
While there are more coffee shops in Tampa Bay and even just Pinellas County to try this is our starter list. Let us know what you think about these and any we missed on social media
