On a dark dusty highway, well actually a state route, possibly the most eclectic road trip waits for you. Nevada’s state route 375, more commonly known by its nickname, the Extraterrestrial Highway is 98 miles of oddities and curiosities. Ready for an out-of-this-world adventure?
The oldest permanent nonnative settlement in Nevada offers a unique step back in time. Unlike many historic towns, Genoa has maintained and embraced its history without turning into the theme park which has cursed other historic towns. The historic charm is highlighted by locally-owned restaurants and the quaint charm of yesteryear.
Situated ten miles south of the last major intersection of Las Vegas Blvd, otherwise known as “The Strip”, sits Seven Magic Mountains. Additionally, the land sculpture sits physically and symbolically between the natural and man-made. The natural being is represented by the mountains from which the limestone boulders were sourced, the Mojave desert, and the Jean Dry Lakebed.
The beautiful Meadow Valley, in Southeastern Nevada, is the result of a very violent beginning. Tens of millions of years ago, explosive volcanic activity deposited layer upon layer of volcanic ash hundreds of feet thick. Those explosions created what we now know as Cathedral Gorge.
As a frequent traveler, there are few places that draw me back like Carson Valley, Nevada. Nestled between the Pine Nut Mountains and Eastern Sierra range the valley is an oasis mere minutes from Lake Tahoe. This historic and picturesque valley offers a legendary experience!
